1. Management or Innovation

Aimee B. McCrory is a pioneer in the field of finance. Her career spans some 21 years. In spite of society’s stigma on woman and money Aimee, in 1988 founded and still presides as President of McCrory Associates Investment Management firm. The mission of McCrory Associates is to provide personal, professional and practical investment services. Aimee started the firm with only 1 client. Today she along with her of CFA’s (Chartered Financial Analyst) manage investment funds for close to 100 investors with assets approaching 50 million dollars.

Recently, McCrory Associates had the distinguished honor of being selected by Rice University, Jones H. School of Business to participate in a five month research study on strategic management. McCrory Associates was one of a select few Houston companies chosen for the project. The strategic management course offered to second-year MBA students provides invaluable experience in real-life situations while it also allows institutions like McCrory Associates to make an important contribution to the education of prospective managers.

The native Houstonian began her career at age 26 with Connecticut General Life Insurance. She holds the distinction of being the first female insurance agent hired by the well-established and respected company. Within a short eighteen months she broke through another glass ceiling. She out performed many of her male counterpoints and

received the "Honor Table" producer award, noting her quality of performance and service in the top ten percent of the agency’s force. Her accomplishments at Connecticut General Life helped to open the door for other women interested in entering a field dominated by men.

In late 1981 after leaving Connecticut General, Aimee partnered in organizing the Houston Branch office of Winthrop Securities, specializing in real estate limited partnerships. A position where Aimee rose above the industry bias regarding females by becoming the first woman broker within the traditional New England Real Estate

Investment firm. Aimee has made a significant impact on the financial/investment industry and on the success of women within that field.

2. Position Responsibility

During Houston’s economic collapse concurrent with the enactment of the Tax Reform Act, Aimee along with several experienced financial experts capitalized Kavanaugh Financial, an investment banking and brokerage firm. Aimee served on the Board of Directors of both arms of the company, (Securities and Financial) which broadened her exposure and knowledge of the investment universe. While serving in this role Aimee realized a need for personalized portfolio management available to those with less than one million dollars, a market not generally sought after by the large investment firms. She responded to the need by forming McCrory Associates. This firm works diligently to provide tangible investment guidance that materially and positively impacts the lives of its clients in ways that helps them accumulate, grow and preserve their investment dollars.

While there are other women owned and operated financial planning firms in Houston, McCrory Associates is perhaps the only one that is strictly focused on portfolio management with an emphasis on educating women to make practical and intelligent investment decisions that will profoundly impact their present and future life.

3. Professional Recognition

Aimee is an investment expert noted by her peers as well as the print and electronic media. She is perhaps one of the most sought after financial expert in Houston because of her unique ability to convey complex financial concepts in simple bottom line terms. The combined mediums sweep her fiscal message across a broad sector of Houston’s population.

"The Bottom Line" is a lively and engaging financial segment which airs weekly on KHOU-TV’s Spirit of Texas This Morning. She is producer and host.

Aimee is eager and enthusiastic for any and every opportunity to enlighten people about their money. She delights in speaking engagements where she is requested to share her knowledge and approach to fiscal wellness, a concept that she considers as important as maintaining physical health.

Aimee is a wonderful mentor. She has been a consistent supporter of aspiring entrepreneurs, including "Kidz Express" a pick up and deliver service for working parents with children. Aimee continues to provide professional and emotional guidance and support to Gail Brown, founder of "Kidz Express".

4. Charitable projects

Though Aimee is busy building and managing her firm, she is firmly committed to serving the community, and she sits on the following boards:

The Board of Trustees, Child Advocates Endowment, Inc.,

The Board of Directors, The Blaffer Gallery, University of Houston,

The Board of Directors, The Gulf Coast Arthritis Foundation.

Aimee is also a member of the Investment Committee for the Perpetual Care Fund, Beth Israel Temple. In addition to servings on the above mentioned boards she manages the funds of two charitable organizations, The Assistance Fund and the Gulf Coast Arthritis Foundation.

Ms. McCrory has been instrumental in creating educational platforms for women. In 1996 she brought together 30 women to form

"Uncommon Cents, Women of Achievement", an investment club designed to build comfort, confidence and skill toward investing.

Aimee is talented in rallying women together with similar concerns and goals. She initially demonstrated this skill during Houston’s economic collapse. She and a coalition founded the "Women’s City Club", a forum that continues today, for Women business owners to discuss and share navigational strategies in stable and turbulent economic times.

Aimee is a dedicated, strong, energetic, intelligent yet compassionate and personable, above all, she is courageous. Aimee’s partner in life is her loving husband of 17 years, Donald B. McCrory. He is Senior Vice President, Development Division, Hines Interests Limited Partnership. Aimee and Don are the proud parents of two terrific women, Erica and Haley.

Wireless Parking San Francisco

What if sensors on the street knew exactly which parking spots were free? Your phone could direct you straight to a free space and the city could use that real-time information for dynamic meter pricing, discouraging driving when car traffic is too high. San Francisco is already trying the idea. If it works, it'll be good for motorists, for the city, and for the environment.
