“Women have not only reached the top of the real estate leadership pyramid, they are proving themselves to be great leaders,” says Stefan Swanepoel in his just released 2008 edition of his annual Swanepoel Trends Report. According to Swanepoel, in the last couple of years women have moved into the #1 or #2 positions at many of the country’s largest real estate companies.
When compared to many other professions and industries, real estate has long been one where women can more easily achieve success and equality with men. The National Association of Realtors profile even put the number of all sales agents at 65% female. But that’s not what a new Report is referring to. The Swanepoel Trends Report is referring to management, and not even at middle management levels but executive levels.
Here is a partial list of some of the women in executive positions in today’s real estate brokerage industry (many previous featured by as visionary women right here on Frogpond):

According to Susie Hale of Frogpond one need only look back 20 years to see how significant the changes really have been and how few leadership positions were held by women back in the 1980’s. Today however paints a few different picture and “Women are more confident and financially savvy than ever before,” says outgoing 2007 NAR President, Pat Vredevoogd Combs, herself an excellent example of a woman achieving the highest elected position in the largest trade association in the world.
This eye-opening discussion is but the first part of Trend #10, in Stefan’s latest 2008 Trends Report. Rounding out Trend #10, “Shattered Glass” as the trend is listed in the Report, is an evaluation of the important impact of the Youth and Minorities in real estate. In total, there are another nine key business real estate trends that carefully analyze the changes, new business models and the real estate trends that are affecting the residential real estate industry. Thousands of hours are spent studying, and summarizing the industry so that real estate leaders, professionals and top producing agents can have one document that amalgamates the most important shifts.
