Robert A. Floyd, CAE, was hired July 1, 1996, by the Texas Society of Association Executives as the second President and CEO in the organizations history.
Mr. Floyd was Chairman of the Board of TSAE in 1990 and received the Distinguished Executive Award in 1992; and was named an ASAE Fellow in 1998. He served on the ASAE Board of Directors of ASAE from 1991-1995. His knowledge and expertise brought him into the international arena in 1995 when he was recruited to teach an association management program in Zimbabwe, Africa, under the auspices of the Academy of Educational Development. An important part of this project was establishing an international standard for certification.
Mr. Floyd was previously with the Texas Motor Transportation Association for 21 years and served as its President from 1986-1994. He began his career as the Director of Government Relations and also served as the Vice President of Public Affairs.
As President of the Floyd Consulting Group, he served as an independent lobbyist and association management consultant.
Mr. Floyd is a graduate of Southwest Texas State University and received his Masters from the University of Arizona. He was on the Board of Trustees for the Eanes Independent School District; a Vice Chairman for the American Society of Association Executives and a prior Leader of the Year recipient for the Texas Motor Transportation Association. He currently serves as member of the U.S. Chamber of Commerces Association Committee of 100.
Born in Brady, Texas, Mr. Floyd served his country in the U.S. Army while stationed in Viet Nam. He and his wife, Sherry have two daughters - Kimberly and Leslie.
