The major theme of his fifteen-year professional career in real estate has been to recognize and develop the natural kinship between technology and real estate. He has served as an MLS director for the Capital Region Multiple Listing Service (CRMLS), as well as serving as the vice chair of the technology forum for the New York State Association of Realtors (NYSAR). Miguel rose through the ranks of the local real estate community to become a partner in the fourth largest real estate company in the Capital District of NY. He left that company to follow his dream of advancing technology within the real estate world.

He is widely recognized as being on the cutting edge of technology in the statewide market. As an example of his forward thinking, as far back as the 1980s, when cell phone technology and pagers were not yet widely used, Miguel introduced them to the company he was associated with. In the mid-90s, Miguel was a leader in recognizing the value of the Internet and email as a marketing tool. As a result of his work, Miguel's company was one of the first in Upstate NY to have a real estate related website. In addition, he conceived and developed a "Relocation CD" for his former company, which featured a self-running multimedia presentation about the Capital Region that could be customized for the person relocating to the area.
