Best Closet Stretchers

Make more space in your closet with these great closet-stretching ideas:

* Move it out of your closet if it doesn't fit or you don't like it or wear it. If you're on a diet simply store smaller-sized clothing in a plastic storage container.

* Move existing rod up and install an additional rod under it. You'll instantly double your hanging space.

* Use hooks and pegs in every extra space to hang jewelry, purses, scarves, and hats.

* Hang all items in the same direction for easier viewing.

* If you have shelves in your closet, buy more and place them closer together. Not having to dig through piles to find what you want will keep you more organized.

* Hang an over-the-door hook on your closet door for robe, pajamas or tomorrow's outfit.

Simple Solutions to a Cleaner Home

Try these six tips to simply keep your home cleaner:

1. Place a tray on your coffee table to collect family room clutter. Empty it every evening.

2. Keep quick wipes under each bathroom and kitchen sink to keep them sparkling.

3. Leave windowsills empty. Your home will look less cluttered, and you'll be able to quickly dust.

4. Hide cds, videos and computer games in bins or containers.

5. Give small items a permanent "home." Office supplies, keys, reading glasses, and other small items can disappear easily without a set place to keep them.

6. Think "enclosed furniture" instead of open shelving and cabinets. Streamlining means your home with look and feel cleaner.

Top 5 Clutter Zones in Your Home -- Conquered

Where does clutter collect in your home? Most homes have clutter in the entry and laundry room, on the coffee table, kitchen counters, and night stand.

1. Entry. Install hooks for keys and outerwear. Put down a shoe rack or shelving for shoes. Stack a bin for each household member to place outgoing and incoming items.

2. Laundry Room. Install shelves and hooks to keep clutter off the floor. Hang a bag for dry-clean-only items. Add a basket for found items (coins, small toys...). Install hooks to hang dry clothes.

3. Coffee Table. Leave your coffee table free of decorations except for one large decorative bowl or tray. Use it nightly to pick up clutter.

4. Kitchen Counters. Remove any item that is not used daily. Hang cups, pots and pans, and utensils. Consider installing a trash can in a cabinet for a cleaner look. Train your family to immediately place dirty dishes in the dishwasher.

5. Nightstands. Choose one with a drawer or put a skirt on your current one. Place a small wastebasket nearby. Consider a clip-on light in lieu of a table lamp. Place a basket of reading material nearby.
