A native Houstonian and Katy, Texas, resident for 30+ years, Bob Christian is from a family that’s been involved in the real estate industry for more than three generations. His Website includes detailed information on resale homes, new-construction homes, school and neighborhood information and taxes – info he compiled after realizing there was not such a centralized and easy-to-use resource for the Katy/West Houston area.

You say you remember as a little boy, helping your grandfather make rounds checking on investment and rental properties and visiting with clients. You personally have been in real estate for 25+ years. What makes real estate rewarding for you?

I would say the most rewarding thing I have found in real estate is the end result. It really makes it all worthwhile when I can help families that are unsure or maybe think that they are not able to own a home, to finally realize their dream.

Real estate professionals come from so many different backgrounds. You’ve had interests in IT consulting and graphic design. However, you’ve also been a deputy sheriff – how does that square with having a career in residential real estate?

Believe it or not, being a deputy sheriff gave me the best training of all for a life in real estate. Being in law enforcement gave me the work ethic to handle the seven-day-a-week job, and also the ability to get past the initial fear of talking to people. I was already used to working long hours and just jumping into the fray and helping people, so law enforcement coupled with my other experience of marketing and IT made a perfect fit.

Has being with Better Homes and Gardens Real Estate changed the way you do business?

Making the move to Better Homes & Gardens Real Estate was the best thing I have ever done. Again, it was a perfect fit for me and my team. We have always tried to lead the way in our technology training and our search for whatever we can find that will make our job and our clients experience better. BH&GRE completely embraces that motto and is right beside us every step of the way.

The “team” concept has really grown all across the country. How did you build your team and what kind of advantage does it give you?

Your Website really focuses on providing great consumer information. Have you seen a big difference in your marketing efforts between your former blog and your present Facebook page?

Our Website has always been a major resource for our clients and has also allowed us to reach more people than traditional means. Since information is constantly changing, we have always tried to stay in front of the information wave so that we remain relevant. That was why we were one of the first to adopt the HAR blog (Houston Association of REALTORS®) format which we later migrated to our Facebook business page

As we speak, we are preparing for the re-launch of our Website at www.FinerHomesofKaty.com, which will now incorporate our Facebook, Twitter and YouTube updates in one location along with our blog and all the detailed information our clients have grown used to in the past. We are pretty excited and are looking forward to the launch.
