Ask George: "I've used Top Producer for many
years. I've been waiting for them to develop the ability to download my data
into a Palm Pilot. It appears they have now developed their own Palm Pilot. Is
it exclusive to their software? Will it run other applications like Outlook? Do
you know anything about this product and its applications? I hate getting locked
into a one-way street". – Waiting Waiting: Top Producer Systems, Inc. informs me that
the "Top Producer For The Palm" software is completely different from
the existing Palm software. It will not interface with other applications. Top
Producer wanted a "field-by-field" level synchronization capability
instead of an entire "record" level synchronization. So, they wrote
their own software. They wanted the Palm to handle other features common to the
Top Producer System 6 desktop. You state in your E-mail that you're "mostly
satisfied" with Top Producer. It seems to me that the Supra Palm Vx that
will synchronize with your Top Producer System 6 is the way for you to go. Ask George: "I'm in charge of training for a
multi-office firm. What is the
most important technology tool a Realtor® needs?" – Trainer Trainer: The ability to communicate with consumers
in your market area is the most important. Continue to train in the use of
methods that work for you now. Additionally,
train your Realtors®
on the effective use of E-mail to prepare them for tomorrow (meaning literally,
"tomorrow"). This would include hardware, software and E-mail clients.
It also includes language skills such as what to say, how to say it and what not
to say. Ask George: "Our area offers Digital Subscriber Lines ("DSL"). I know that the Telephone Company recently upgraded its switching station. Still, I'm told that I cannot get DSL high-speed access. This does not make sense". – Confused Confused: I'm told that some of the "new" telephone-switching devices are not able to handle Digitial Subscriber Lines (DSL). Furthermore, the three-mile radius limitation for DSL installation still applies. Have you considered a cable modem? |
